The Rell Sunn Aloha Jam 2009 is a fundraiser for the Rell Sunn Education Fund and a bronze statue of Rell on Oahu. It will be held at Waimea Valley November 29th, the Sunday night after Thanksgiving and is an officially sanctioned Triple Crown Event. Jake Shimabukoro, Henry Kapono, Kaukahi, Rob Machado, Paula Fuga and Cyril Pahanui are all playing. So far Wade Tokoro, Carl Ekstrom, Steve Pendavaris, Mickey Munzo, Herbie Fletcher, Jim Philips, Rich Harbour, Terry Martion, Pat Rawson, Eric Arakawa, Robert August, Jed & Greg Noll, Ron House, Al Merick, Ben Apia, Jeff Ho, Mickey Munoz, Steve Pendarvaris, Marc Andrini, Blane Chambers, and Town and Country are donating boards. We also have a donated board signed by the Red Bull Team. Pro surfers that are pitching in signed surfboards so far are Sunny, Barca, Pancho, Freddy and more. Along with these boards there are also a lot of companies donating items to be auctioned and raffled off. There will be food and beer available. The Rell Sunn Educational Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to “educating the public about sportsmanship and the environment, combating juvenile delinquency and provide funding to battle breast cancer”.
